Motor Vehicle Award/Registration Targeting Local Consumer

The Better Business Bureau in Canton has received word from The Jackson Police Department of a local consumer who received notification they had won a new vehicle.

The Offer:

The award notification states the consumer has been awarded a new, 2009 automobile or cash and requires the consumer to reply within the grace period (15 days) in order to be eligible to receive the new vehicle. The vehicle is to be delivered to a local dealership in North Canton, Ohio or the consumer has the option to receive a cash settlement in the amount of $15,503.00. The letter continues to state the consumer has been pre selected to enter an additional drawing to win $512,344.00.

What’s the catch:

In order to receive the vehicle or cash settlement the consumer is instructed to send a money order, check, or cash in the amount of $1,000 for research and document preparation to: Motor Vehicle Award/Registration, 5015 W. Sahara, Suite 125, PO Box 243, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89146-3407 or Sun Rise Omni Limited, 9101 W. Sahara Ave, Suite 105 –D8, Las Vegas, NV 89117. Phone number for the company is: 702-252-4627. For an additional $39.95 the consumer will receive a list of other sweepstakes offers.

Consumers Beware:

Upon investigation, this company has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau in Las Vegas because of a failure to obtain the required competency license, BBB concerns with the industry in which this business operates, number of complaints filed against this business, and it’s failure to respond to complaints filed against this business.

The Better Business Bureau cautions anyone from providing personal and/or financial account information to avoid repeated and unexpected transaction made to withdraw money from and make changes to your account. The BBB urges consumers never to provide personal information to unknown persons.

What Should I Do if I Receive a Similar Offer?

If you receive any offer claiming you have won a prize, lottery or sweepstakes and you are asked to pay a fee for security deposit, insurance premium, international taxes, acquisition fee, or other advanced fee in order to obtain your money, immediately contact your local Better Business Bureau at 1-800-362-0494 or mail to PO Box 8017, Canton, OH, 44711-8017.
